Lying with integrity?

Yes I believe that we all lie, all the truth isn’t good to be told. I believe that some truth can be so painful than a small lie. But I think that when somebody lies, that person has to make sure that they can live with that lie and also assume all the consequences of the lie. But personaly, I appreciate people who are honest with me, even if that truth may hurt me. I think it is better to know than to be ignorant. But it is true that the right thing is usually the hardest thing to do, in this context, is to say.

First comment

I totally agree with Archana's blog in the topic "smoking". I don’t see why the government banned drugs as an illegal product but don't ban cigarrete. For me Cigarettes or any kind of smoking, it is a drug. Maybe drugs don’t harm as cigarette but the result is the same, smokers can die of the consequences of cigarettes.

New smoking law

According to the Nouse (online), it says that "the smoking legislation will come into force in summer 2007.In England smoking will be prohibited in all public areas including bars, clubs and restaurants. Fines for smoking in non-smoking areas are to be raised from £200 to £2500". (http://www.nouse.co.uk/2006/02/20/new-smoking-law-affect-us/)
I think this law is really good because I don’t see why no-smokers, as my self, should have to breathe smokers’ fumes. I believe that if someone want to smoke, the person should smoke in his house, place but not imposes his fumes to others people, especially no-smokers in a public place. But everyone don't share the same opinion as me like Simon Clark director of smoking support group, he says that "The Government should educate people about the health risks of smoking but politicians have no right to force people to quit by making it more difficult for people to consume a legal product." For me even if it's a legal product, I think it wouldn't be fair that no smokers suffer of others people choices. The fume infects the air.
This website is really good,it's explain everything about this new law.

Gambling

I believe that problem gambling behaviour can damage personal, family or vocational pursuits. The need of a problem gambling person is a need to bet more money more frequently, restlessness or irritability when attempting to stop. In the worst cases, problem gambling can result in financial ruin, legal problems, loss of career and family, or even suicide. For me I think gambling can bring emotional problem (e.g. stress, frustration, aggressive, ...) which result in financial consequences. The real problem is that they have an uncontrollable obsession with gambling. Anyone who gambles can develop problems if they are not aware of the risks and do not gamble responsibly (e.g. casino, lottery). Professor Mark Griffiths give us more information in this website:

body modification

Visit any school, club,or pub and you'll see kids with all sorts of body modifications: piercings in every possible place, tattoos, brightly colored hair and anything else to change their appearance.Body modification has been around for centuries( e.g. in Africa) but it is experiencing a new surge of popularity amongst children and teens even adult. It is the nature of adolescents to experiment and to be subject to peer pressure as they struggle to discover their true personal identity.I belive that you don't have to pierce your body in order to belong to a group. As myself i have my nose pierced not because i wanted to belong in a certain group but because i find it very nice and for me there is no harm at all.

religion in the 21st century

In this century, religion have change a lot comparing to some years ago.first of all,the number of people who believe in God, which mean people who go to church, have decrease. There is less and less believing in this world.Second of all,as time passes there are more and more new religion or beliefs which appears. i.e. The Church of Reality is a religion based on the practice of Realism. It is a religion that is based on believing in everything that is real. their motto is, "If it's real, we believe in it. i believe that because of all those new change, it is very difficult to believe in only one religion. So i think people choose to give up everything concerning religion. And with all the technology and science which try to explain the world, life, that can also explain why the number of believer decrease with time.

being too religious

first, i do believe that the way the lecture have started in week 7 wasn't appropriated. For me i think it's good to start the lecture by a pray because i am a Christian and i love to pray. but i still think that praying at university can make some people fell uncomfortable. Religion is something personal and a personal choice. Pray at the lecture is not socially acceptable because it is like one don't take consideration of other's beliefs.
